A sneak peak inside!

So today we were lucky to find a door unlocked to our house so we got to have a sneak peak inside. I just want the next few weeks go quick so that we can move in already :)

I'm so happy to see our paint choice up on the walls and I couldn't be happier - where we got to do our colour choice the light was horrible and made it hard to know if the colour i choose was going to be grey enough for what I wanted.

Upstairs area:

Master bedroom:

Tiling has also started with all floors done and only the walls left in our ensuite to go. (I'm loving our colour choice :))

Laundry:

Downstairs bathroom:

Family bathroom:

Upstairs toilet:

Ensuite:

Ensuite tile - which will cover the whole room floor & walls:

Most of the upstairs electrical fit out had also been done with most of the down lights left to do downstairs. Hopefully things keep moving along nicely so that we do hit the handover date by the end of May :)

Thor's Hammer

Visited the House tonight to see the roofing on the garage is well underway. The eve's have a slopped design for the garage and from what i can gather, the brick work needed to be chipped away a tad to allow the timber to sit properly.

I guess one of them was wielding Thor's Hammer.

As the eve's are angled, they cant cover this one up! will need to be repaired before they can put the eve sheets on.

Garage Construction Progress

The Garage is slowly being constructed after a small delay with sourcing a bricklayer to complete it. It's slowly getting there with the roof scheduled to be completed by the end of this week. (if the rain stops and all materials can be delivered)

Really happy with the extra space when we opted for the Garage extension. It provides plenty of usable space. As my land is backing on to a golf course, its very hard to get approval for a rear garden shed. So the small cost at construction offsets many potential future hassles.

Our SS also wanted to know if we wanted to have the faux timber put on the front of the house between the pillars (same sheeting they used for the above gable - which is painted the wrong colour).

We said we wanted it. Since our design changed so much and they charged us around $500 dollars to add the sheeting while making the portico smaller and removing the side brickwork around the left hand window due to design guidelines. (even though two other double stories being built by them in the same town have them) We wanted it put on.

It should look good once it all goes on.

The New and the Old

With building a new house comes the job of filling it up with furniture. As our new house is considerably larger than our previous house this has meant that we've needed to buy some new things (as well as buying some things just for ourselves as treats :)).

The first of our purchase was a new lounge suite which we got at the boxing day sales from Harvey Norman's as well as a lovely new Dinning table which is a 12 seater (which I don't have a photo of as its not advertised online).

We have also got this lovely seat for our master bedroom:

Over the weekend we were visiting my parents and went to the local Mitre 10 that happened to be having a 50% off sale on their display stock. We found a lovely outdoor BBQ kitchen that we liked as well as a Pizza oven (which my parents got for us as an Engagement present).

I also purchased a dressing table for the master bedroom which I am restoring and going to paint white. I started work on this over the weekend and was able to strip the stool and side table. The next job will be to strip the dresser and then to paint. As they say all the work is in the preparation :)

Let there be light!

Beacon Lighting has a 25% off sale for lights so what better time to buy some of the feature lights for our house :)

For our kitchen we needed some pendent lights to go over our bench. We have gone with an industrial look:

Outside of the entry to our master bedroom we got a wall light installed on each wall (as this is at the display house for our design and we really liked the look.) So this is what we have chosen - it is the same design of what is on display at the display home:

We also got some lights for the front of our house:

Now to wait till Beacon has a sale on fans!
